by Kathy Mitchell and Marcy Sugar
Dear Annie: "Lynne" and I have been dating for over two years, and her parents and I get along very well, but a continuing situation with her mother has me perplexed and angry.

Regarding "Lynne," the 17 year old in Michigan who's mother is taking money from her bank account. You advised Lynne to go to the bank and open her own account. In many states, minors cannot open bank accounts without a parent also being listed on the account.

To women whose intelligent husbands have cheated on them:
When opportunity knocks, it's very tempting for a married man to succumb to his basest desires. As long as the woman in the affair knows that he's committed to his marriage and is prepared for the certain letdown that follows a tryst, no harm will be done to the marriage as long as birth control and diaease protection is employed. Men know that the biblical kings had both wives and concubines and only later were strictures applied against extra-marital relations for the rich. We all know that some current societies allow a man to have more than one wife so we may rationalize that if it was alright for our forefathers and polygamists, then it should be okay for us to have our little dalliances.

To "Secure and Single Lady in Pennsylvania": If a wife feels "insecure" then it is VERY likely that she has a reason to feel that way. From the first moment I met one of my husband's co-workers who was a woman our age, I knew she was interested in my husband. I could just "sense" it. My husband brushed off my concerns but was it was later proven I was correct when she outright propositioned him. This woman was nothing but trouble, Even after being turned down, she continued to harass my husband and me. The lesson? ALWAYS trust your intution.
