When The Wall Comes Crumblin' Down

My husband thinks a screwdriver's a drink. So when it comes to home repairs, I phone Dan the handyman, or I put on a toolbelt and do the work myself.

We live in a 100-year-old house built from true masonary construction. The walls in the house are 12 inches thick, and made of lath and plaster. Over the years the house has settled, causing some of the walls to dilate like varicose veins.

I do feel like a guest in my own room.. I have to admit though the room looks great!

next time (you KNOW there will be a next time) try this instead: buy premixed joint compound. it is cheap and does not require mixing (obviously) a big pail is heavy but costs less than $20.00, at least where i live. put a little in at a time, let it dry completely, repeat. get the final coat as smooth as possible. rub with a wet sponge, don't sand. voila, no dust.
