  • Designer Homes, December 30
A large, rambling ranch-style describes the Seapine (501-10). It has a long wraparound porch accented by the windows. On the dormer level are arched windows that add a touch of elegance to the faŤade. The large, two-car garage has windows that face …

  • La Crosse (334-080)

  • Watson (406-07)
The Watson 406-07 is a duplex, but it is uniquely designed. It has colonial columns, with a porch on the second level. Once you have entered this colossal home, the true stateliness is apparent. The Watson has a communal gathering room of 1,810 …

Discerni (407-35)

The Discerni (407-35) brings back memories of visiting grandma and grandpa on the farm. The two-bedroom, one-bath Discerni been designed to reflect with one eye on the past the outside and the other on a more modern look inside.

The ground floor of the Discerni is 1,087 square feet, but when the unfinished attic is added, the area of the home is nearly doubled.

Homes of our childhood had the large great room where the family could gather in the evenings to eat, relax, and be together to share the stories of the day. The Discerni's living room/dining room area is more than 30 feet long and 10 feet wide. There are bench windows in the dining area, along with a row of windows in the living room to let sunshine flow in to light up the space.

The kitchen, located on the right side of the home, has plenty of counter space, as well as an eating bar. The sink faces the front of the home, looking out onto the covered front porch. The bathroom for the home is accessible from both the master suite and the great room. The master suite contains a wall closet area and its own sink for privacy of putting on her make-up or for his shaving.

Across the hall from the master suite is the second bedroom.
It has two wall closets with built-in shelves in between. The stairs to the attic are in the area between the two bedrooms, along with an area for the washer and dryer. This location of the utility room makes it convenient to both bedrooms and the upstairs, should the attic be converted into spare bedrooms.

Upstairs is an unfinished attic that is 805 square feet. This is ample space to add more bedrooms, maybe an extra bathroom, family room, play area for the kids, or an office for the working mom or dad. There are two dormers in the attic, one on each side of the home.

The Discerni has many windows that not only admit lots of sunlight, but also make the exterior of the home pleasing to the eye. The covered porch with the door opening into the living room and windows looking out toward the front of the home is reminiscent of our childhood and the great times we had.
