  • Designer Homes, December 30

  • Watson (406-07)
The Watson 406-07 is a duplex, but it is uniquely designed. It has colonial columns, with a porch on the second level. Once you have entered this colossal home, the true stateliness is apparent. The Watson has a communal gathering room of 1,810 …

Thompson (406-45)

If the acreage you just bought is crying for a sprawling ranch-style home, one with all the amenities that go with gracious living, you need look no further than the 3,242-square-foot Thompson (406-45).

The single-story ranch-style is V-shaped with a covered porch sporting two skylights that embrace the entry in sunlight. The entry opens into a large room with a narrow partition dividing the living and dining rooms.

The inside of the Thompson is well thought out and designed with convenience in mind. The living room contains a fireplace and windows on two sides. The dining area has patio doors that open onto the back deck.

There are two bedrooms in this home. One is the master suite and the other is the guest suite. The master suite is gigantic with one wall of closet space. At the end of one closet is a shelf for the television. In a separate room protruding from the end of the home is the master bathroom with twin sinks and a large walk-in shower.

For convenience, an office is next to the master suite. It has two, long work counters for computers and a door that opens onto the deck outside.
There is a bathroom near this room with a shower. Across the hallway from computer room and bathroom is a row of display shelves for trophies, antiques or family treasure.

The guest suite is located on the other side of the Thompson, next to the garage. There is a full bathroom next door with twin sinks and a tub, accessible to the balance of the home. A formal sitting room has been included next to the bathroom. This could serve as a third bedroom.

The kitchen for this home is open, with an island, lots of counter space and a corner walk-in pantry. The eating bar separates the kitchen from the dining area.

The two-car garage gives the appearance of normality. However, the rear of the garage houses a huge shop with a sink. This is ideal for the gentleman rancher to store his equipment, the auto buff to store his tools, or the artist to store craft materials.
