Ask Stacy, June 6

DEAR STACY: I've never before seen Annie Wersching, currently playing an FBI agent on "24." Can you tell me about her? I think she's terrific, and would hope to see more of her. — Ben S., Bayville, N.Y.

DEAR BEN: Wersching knew she wanted to be a performer at an early age. As her Web site puts it, "she crawled around as a Jellicle cat in 'Cats' in fourth grade and never looked back.' She also competed in Irish step dance. She has a degree in musical theater from Millikin University. After college she moved to Chicago for a spell, and toured with several shows before relocating to Los Angeles, where she began landing guest roles on episodic series including "Star Trek: Enterprise," "Charmed" and "Supernatural." She did a recurring gig on "General Hospital" in 2007. The 32-year-old actress lists among her special abilities: face contortionist, tin whistle and burp on cue.

DEAR STACY: Whatever became of Cathryn Damon of "Soap" renown? — R.P.C., Cedar Rapids, Iowa

DEAR R.P.C.: The accomplished actress of Broadway, television and film fame succumbed to cancer in 1987, at age 56.

DEAR STACY: What happened to "Kings"? — A.V., Little Falls, N.J.

DEAR A.V.: The ambitious drama that cost a reported $4 million per episode — with a $10 million two-hour debut — was taken off NBC's schedule after pulling abysmal ratings. The plan is to air its remaining episodes from June 13 to July 25.

DEAR STACY: Please settle a small bet. I say the female co-star of "Castle," Stana Katic, used to play a villain on "24" a couple years back. My brother says it's a different actress. — Sandi B., Cleveland, Ohio

DEAR SANDI: Katic did indeed play the role of terrorist-abetting information broker Collette Stenger in the fifth season of "24." The Hamilton, Ontario-born actress of Croatian descent has a list of credits that also includes the films "Quantum of Solace" and "Feast of Love," the cable movie "The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice," and the series "Heroes," in which she played Hana Gitelman.

DEAR STACY: After seeing the current Chase bank commercial that uses John Lennon's "Instant Karma" song for about the bazillionth time, I have to ask: Since when are Lennon's songs being licensed out for ads? I thought the Beatles were against that sort of thing, and it would seem especially John.

— Phil R., Bellflower, Calif.

DEAR PHIL: Beatles' songs — collectively and individually — have been getting used in commercials for years, usually with the stipulation that they're re-recorded by others, as in the case of Lennon's "Instant Karma." It's performed in the Chase spot by former Bauhaus lead singer Peter Murphy. That's why Yoko Ono's licensing of the master recording of her late husband singing "Real Love" to JC Penny's in 2007 caused a big flap.

DEAR STACY: Could you please tell me if Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christopher Cuomo from "Good Morning America" are cousins through marriage? — Mrs. Lillian S., Smithtown, N.Y.

DEAR LILLIAN: No. Christopher's older brother Andrew used to be married to Mary Kerry Kennedy, one of Robert F. Kennedy's daughters, and a cousin of Maria Shriver (daughter of Eunice Kennedy Shriver), who is married to Schwarzenegger.

DEAR STACY: What is Michael Beach up to lately? I always enjoy him in the movies and on TV, but I haven't seen him since he was on "Brothers and Sisters." — Karla T., Bronx, N.Y.

DEAR KARLA: The one-time "Third Watch" star was seen this past March in the Hallmark Channel's "Relative Stranger" movie alongside his former Julliard classmate and "ER" alumnus Eriq La Salle. He's in the upcoming Chris Klein comedy movie "Play Dead," and the forthcoming big screen indie, "Pastor Brown." Rockmond Dunbar directed and co-stars in that family drama about a woman (Salli Richardson) asked by her dying father to take over as pastor of his large Atlanta congregation.
