DEAR STACY: Did David Letterman ever get married? — Cathy W., Cleveland, Ohio
DEAR CATHY: He's never officially tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko, mother of his four-year-old son Harry. The late night host did wed back when he was in college. His union with Michelle Cook lasted 10 years and ended in the divorce that left him admittedly marriage-shy.
DEAR STACY: Why was "Shark" canceled? Would the networks reconsider giving it another chance? I love James Woods; he's such a fine actor. How about another network picking it up? — Lucille P., Glendale, N.Y.
DEAR LUCILLE: Sorry, but barring an unexpected and unprecedented resurrection, the show is gone. Woods says he's already looking at movie offers and he may well be committed to another project by the time you read this. His legal series was felled by a combination of misfortunes, including 1) the fact it never proved a big attraction to younger audiences, 2) time slot changes that had it competing against football, "Brothers & Sisters," then "Dancing with the Stars" and "Hell's Kitchen" — losing ratings along the way — and 3) the Hollywood writers' strike hit just "when we should have emerged and shown our strength in the second half of the season," as Woods put it.
DEAR STACY: A friend told me the other day that Rob Lowe is hard of hearing. I'd like to find out if that is true? — E.C., Euclid, Ohio
DEAR E.C.: Lowe is deaf in his right ear, the result, it is believed, of undiagnosed mumps when he was about eight months old. He says it hasn't been a big issue for him — but that the older he gets, the less he can stand being in noisy environments like loud restaurants.
DEAR STACY: I saw a photo of Katherine Heigl and her sister, Meg, the latter of whom is obviously Asian. What's the story there? Are they step-siblings? One or both adopted? Just interested. — Krista V., Monroe Township, N.J.
DEAR KRISTA: Meg was adopted by their parents before Katherine was born. Katherine also has an older brother, Holt. Older brother Jason died following an automobile accident in 1986, when he was 15.
DEAR STACY: Chace Crawford is hot! Please give some background including other things we can see him in besides "Gossip Girl." — Jennifer M., Brooklyn, N.Y.
DEAR JENNIFER: The handsome 6-foot former model, who dated country star Carrie Underwood last year, was born in Lubbock, Texas.
DEAR STACY: Whatever became of Guy Williams, who played "Zorro" and was in "Lost in Space"? I have a cousin named Guy because of him. — Gary S., Canton, Ohio
DEAR GARY: Williams, an avid sailor who really did fence quite well, had a bit of Zorro-style swashbuckler in him. He fell in love with Argentina (where "Zorro" was a hit) and moved to Buenos Aires in the 1970s. His Latin American life included forming a circus with an Argentinean fencing champ and touring around the continent. He had former "Zorro" cast mates come down and join him for public appearances. Married for more than 30 years to the former Janice Cooper, he died of a brain aneurysm at age 65, in 1989.
DEAR STACY: After renting "Bend it Like Beckham," which I had never seen before, I would like to know whether Keira Knightley was really a soccer player before making the film. — M.O., Brooklyn, N.Y.
DEAR M.O.: No. Chalk up her moves and Parminder Nagra's impressive-looking skills in that gem of a movie to about 20 weeks of intensive training, up to nine hours a day, with soccer coach Simon Clifford.
