Mars entered Leo yesterday, but being the main act and all, did you really think he'd share the spotlight with Jupiter? Today, the moon enters Leo, finally (applaud here) the people who covet our attention get it. The bold and beautiful are impressive, but it's the wallflowers among us that disarm with charm, and are surprisingly entertaining.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). You'll happily receive small bonuses, like a kind compliment, a card or an invitation. These are precursors to something larger on the way. Tonight, stick with the plan, especially if the plan is simple.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You keep coming back to someone. At this point, you're not sure if it's out of attraction or habit. It just feels right, and that's as good a reason as any to connect.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Make a list, carry it around with you and check it as you go. It's the only way to stay focused and on track with all of today's shiny distractions in your periphery. If you don't get it all done, stay positive. There's always tomorrow.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). Everything you want is not affordable. But some of it is. You don't have to get everything at once. Decide what to splurge on and what to skimp on — you'll manage in high style.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). A show of temper represents a loss of emotional control — not great. But it also shows that you care, which is great. You can build from that caring and figure out how to get a relationship back on track.
TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (MAY 10). A sale of personal property this month paves the way for a lifestyle change. The amount of help you're getting will double in July — it feels wonderful to finally be supported. Hold out for the best this year because you can have it! Even excellent offers will be topped when you strongly believe you can have what you want. Cancer and Scorpio adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 2, 15, 49 and 33.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Career ambitions are so hot that you'll find yourself working when everyone else is playing. The more you do, the more there is to do. The only way to catch a break seems to be to steal one.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). A purchase you'd like to make forces you to do a quick review of your possessions. Keep the best, lose the rest. It calms you to ponder a question that has no answer.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). It causes just as much strife in the world to take offense as it does to give offense.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You're being nudged to let loose. Zany friends or total strangers encourage you to have some fun. It's not as much fun to have fun just because someone is telling you to have fun.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Consistency counts. The small, caring things you do every day mean much more than a sporadic grand gesture. However, if you were to be surprisingly romantic, it would be especially welcome today.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You're impatient, and it works for you. Since you believe that you don't have time to wait for opportunities to be handed to you, you get busy making things happen for you right now.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Keep your standards up. Don't let someone change the deal on you. Hold others accountable. When you start to accept less than you really want, that's what you'll get.
ASTROLOGICAL TOPICS: The elements: water. Is there a reason why sun sign astrology always advises water element folks (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) to vacation by water? Yes! Water has an affinity for water. Our sun sign element is our elemental nature, so dipping into one's element puts water signs "in their element" (the same principle can be applied to all sun signs). The thing about water is: it's vulnerable to the conditions in which it's placed. Move a glass of water sharply and it spills. Or watch the ocean's tide rise and fall to gravity's pull. A funny phenomenon of water is how reactive it is to temperature: waiting for a pot to boil water takes so long. But once boiling point is reached, steam is hot! When fully cool, water is slow to warm, like waiting for a swimming pool to warm up after a cool night. Water penetrates everything and anything, seeping through barriers, giving water people secret powers. And water can eventually wear down or smooth any resistance — even a rock. How do the elements mix? Fire heats water up. Earth brings water structure, like a water glass. Air dries water (think evaporation). Water and water emotionally connect.
CELEBRITY PROFILES: Can Bono's music heal the world? Whether listening to or making our own, the music we love draws us into a deep connection and unity. Music also hastens our regenerative and renewing abilities — as the common houseplant (after "listening" to beautiful music) attests. Whether restoring sanity personally or globally, Taurus ponders,"Imagine what a song could do."
