Don't worry if your e-mail doesn't work this morning. When the quicksilver planet, Mercury, changes speed, the information superhighway experiences hiccups. We may experience our thinking processes differently, too, as Mercury retrogrades in Libra for the next three weeks. Give yourself plenty of time to ponder before you pursue.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). This is no time to push life along. Focus on staying in a fabulous mood and taking things as they come. If you're involved in any property or inheritance matters, relax and know that all will be solved eventually.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). From dawn until dusk, there's no doubt about it, you're sharp. Someone appreciates your quick thinking, and when you act on it, you'll save money for yourself and/or your company.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You are fascinated with the origin of things. You want to know how this friendship got started, and what gave someone the idea for that project. Your curiosity endears you to an interesting someone.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). When you get in the room with someone who vibrates at your same frequency, you feel so connected and understood that you (and the other person) are able to let an even higher level of energy run through you.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). It's obvious that the force that is orchestrating your reality knows more about how to please you than you do yourself. You're in a situation that's not what you planned or what you wanted, but that's very wonderful nonetheless.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (SEPTEMBER 24). This year is peppered with simple, elegant insights that lead you to increase the flow of love into your life. October brings new employment opportunity and you can stash away money for the upcoming holidays. There's an adventure to embark on in December. The new year takes you in a thrilling direction. Cancer and Aries adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 20, 1, 30 and 16.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You're inspired and energized by the socializing you do. First impressions will tell you a lot, but not the whole story, and certainly not the good parts. Ask open-ended questions to draw people out of themselves.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Though the rest of the world sees you as a capable professional, there are times when you feel like a kid playing dress up in his parent's work clothes. You're doing fine. You'll soon get used to this role.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Unfortunately, doing what is expected of you is not enough to win affection and devotion.
In order to win a heart, you must perform above and beyond the norm. You've got the grit and the creativity to deliver.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Your gypsy soul goes wandering again, even if your body is pretty much where it usually is. Dreams of faraway places and exciting new scenarios fill your consciousness, while the rest of you is on autopilot.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). If you feel the slightest bit of unrest, it's because you're not noticing the fantastic gifts sprinkled in your path. Pay attention. Like a child on a scavenger hunt, you can piece together a treasure of a day.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). If you're feeing blocked in a project, the remedy is simple: research. It's the preliminary step to your work. The second step is brainstorming. Do not attempt to be proficient without these two steps.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Sometimes it's hard to believe you're doing what you're doing. You never saw yourself in this position, and yet, here you are. In a small and very personal way, this is a day of reckoning.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: "I am a Sagittarius who has been having an on-and-off affair with a Leo for 10 years. He says he's not ready for a relationship and that he loves me. Common sense tells me that he's just using me. At this point I don't even know if I'm in serious denial, refusing to remove my hand from the flame."

What is it about common sense that makes it so difficult to follow, especially in matters of love? The mountain of facts can all add up to "he's using me" and yet the few things this guy is doing right for you — namely infusing your life with drama and the occasional passionate interlude — seem to override every other disappointing fact. I don't think you're in denial. You're actually realistic about where this is going, which is in circles. But don't beat yourself up over it. As long as you're doing this, why not enjoying the ride on soap opera highway? Leos navigate that territory better than anyone. Put the top down and let yourself get blown around a bit. Have fun. Lighten up. When you're ready to get off the ride, you'll get off and it won't be a struggle.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Textbook astrology says the soul path of Libra is mastering peaceful coexistence with others. What gives with the "Queen of Mean," Anne Robinson, a Libra? Here's the distinction: while our sun sign merely offers a path to fulfillment, our free will determines whether we'll reach the happiness promised by our sun sign. By the way, no one sign (or planet) holds sway over "mean."
