MOOLA

Featuring an animated opening sequence by Creators Syndicate cartoonist Leigh Rubin

Woodland Hills, CA – Allumination FilmWorks is pleased to announce the release of Moola, the award-winning, all-star independent comedy directed by Don Most (of “Happy Days” fame). This “udderly” beguiling comedy features a side-splitting opening sequence drawn by Creators Syndicate cartoonist Leigh Rubin. Visit YouTube to see the opening sequence in its entirety, or scroll down to the end of this press release.

The film's quality and hilarity drew the award-winning Rubin to contribute his considerable artistic talent, and his longtime love of drawing cows made it a natural fit. Rubin's cartoons are featured in more than 400 newspapers nationwide, and he makes frequent appearances across the country sharing his love of cartooning cows. Moola will be released May 6, 2008. Order date is April 1, 2008, with an SRP of $29.98.

Sometimes, “manure happens,” and unfortunately for best friends and business partners Steve (William Mapother (TV’s “Lost,” In the Bedroom, Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center) and Harry (Daniel Baldwin, Vampires, Paparazzi, TV’s Emmy-winning “Homicide: A Life on the Streets”) are in it up to their eyeballs. With their chemical light-stick business and their marriages both on the rocks, their American Dream is about to go Chapter 11 – until a huge deal unexpectedly materializes and promises to change their lives forever.

Inspired by improbable – but true – events, Moola is a captivating comedy about love, friendship, success, corporate greed … and, of all things, dairy cows in heat. Featuring a top-notch cast, Moola is a comedy so outrageous that it could only be based on an actual incident.  Truth is not only stranger than fiction, it’s frequently funnier, too!

Moving Picture Magazine hailed Moola’s “good performances … great fun,” and the film won the award for Best Achievement in Film Directing from the Newport Beach Film Festival for Don Most.
Moola’s all-star cast also includes Efren Ramirez (the unforgettable Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite, Employee of the Month, Crank), two-time Daytime Emmy nominee Charlotte Ross (TV’s “Montana Sky,” the Emmy-nominated “Beggars & Choosers,” the Emmy-winning “NYPD Blue”), Doug Hutchison (TV’s “Kidnapped” and “Lost,” Golden Satellite Award nominee for The Green Mile), Curtis Armstrong (Revenge of the Nerds, National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, the Oscar-winning Ray, TV’s “Moonlighting” and “American Dad”), Annabelle Gurwitch (Mouse Hunt, the Oscar-winning Pollock, TV’s “Wasted”) and Emmy Award nominee, Independent Spirit Award nominee and three-time Golden Globe nominee Treat Williams (TV’s “Everwood,” Prince of the City, Once Upon a Time in America).

The Moola DVD includes such special features as Director’s Commentary with Don Most, the behind-the-scenes documentary “The Making of Moola,” and deleted scenes.
