After nearly three weeks of intense media coverage amid a firestorm of controversy, Lenore Skenazy addresses the nation's response to her recent column, "
Why I Let My Nine Year Old Ride the Subway Alone."
"America's worst mom?"
That, as it turned out, was just the tip of the iceberg of incendiary comments received by Skenazy.
But in her
follow-up column, she relays the support she has since received from across the world.
"Bravo! Thank you! Good for your son!"
She tackles - head on- the question at hand and discusses the dichotomy between the praise she's received and the fact that it comes from moms and dads still unwilling to let go. Once again, she repudiates the urban myths that plague overprotective parents. With a dash of humor, she advises those prone to paranoia.
"It's crazy to limit our lives based on widely remote dangers."
